Here are some of the most commonly asked questions I get

Question :

I have virus software I thought I wasn't supposed to get viruses ?

Answer :

just because you have an anti-virus software dosen't mean your immune from
infection not all anti-virus softwares can stop infection from happening most
will alert you when they have found an infection and help you remove it.

We find in alot of cases anti-virus software that is out of date or expired all
together or an infection has disabled the anti-virus software altogether.

Question :

How did my computer get so infected ?

Answer :

A good number of infections come from places like Porn sites, P2P
file sharing
and social networking sites like My Space drive by downloads or infected E-Mail

Question :
What choices do I have for internet service and who do you recommend

Answer :

Choices for internet service vary depending on location but here are your choices

1. Dial Up needs a landline phone or cell phone teather
2. DSL needs a land line phone or Dry Loop
3. Cable Internet requires cable access usually offers highest speeds
4. Clearwire needs line of sight to radio tower
5. Air Card from your cell provider requires unlimited data package
6. Satellite Internet requires a clear line of site to horizon

Dial Up is the slowest and costs almost as much as DSL anymore
DSL is usually pretty affordable for the speed
Cable Internet usually offers the highest speeds available but cost more than DSL
Clearwire price is a bit high compared to most DSL and can be unreliable at times
Air Cards only work where there is cell reception price is good for the mobility they provide
Satellite Internet is pricey and has high latency issues

Question :

Is it ok to leave my computer on or should I turn it off ?

Answer :

It is ok to leave your computer on just restart it once in a while to
clear out the ram.

A lot of people get on  their computers several times throughout the day
and turn them on and off each time this constant on off cycle is not good
for the computer it heats up and cools down each time it's better to keep
it at a constant ambient tempurature.

If you don't want to leave your computer on all the time turn it on the f
irst
time you use it for the day and leave it on untill your done for the day or use
power saving settings to put the computer into standby or hibernate mode.

Question :

Can you fix my old computer or should I just buy a new one ?

Answer :

Most average computer repairs can be done for $100 or less so unless
your machine needs major repair it's cheaper to just fix it than replace it.

Question :

What kind of computer would you recommend ?

Answer :

People are kind of pre-programmed to buy the big name computers
from stores or direct from companies like Dell. However the way to
get the most computer for your money is to have one custom built for
you from a reputable system builder.

When you buy a "pre-built" or "box name" Pc you are a
ctually buying
a crippled Pc by crippled I mean that the "BIOS" on the motherboard
is reduced in functionality which reduces your ability to gain better than
stock performance through overclocking.

The big names want you to buy a new computer every few years so they
limit what you can do with their machines after you buy them.

When you build one from scratch you are in control of the parts that go into
them no crippled "BIOS" therefore you can tweak them to squeeze every last
little bit of performance out of them before having to buy a faster machine.

This also allows you to work with the person who actually built your machine
should  you need support instead of speaking with someone in another country
you can't understand who actually knows very little about Pc's.

It's a little harder when it comes to laptops because you can't r
eally order non
OEM motherboards for them to start your build but there are things you can do
to a stock unit to improve performance like more ram or a faster hard drive.

Question :

what's the best or worst computer brands?

Answer :

All brands can have issues but I think probablly the worst computers out
there are eMachines we've seen more of their machines come in for major
repair than about any other brand they have a bad habit of just shorting out
the power supply and motherboard when that happens it's really not worth
fixing.

If I had to pick the best brand I would have to say IBM their computers have
probably the best quality in my opinion.
